The show may be over but Canada @ BETT lives on! This site will be kept up over the next year and provide reports on developments arising from our participation, including deals and photos. Hot from the press, a few pictures of Canada @ BETT, including our reception. These are currently quite large files, so a smaller Acrobat (251k) sample of 7 photos in one page can be downloaded here.
Introduction
Canada has placed a strong importance on education and ensuring that its citizens wherever they are located have equal access to high quality education. All Canadian schools were connected to the Internet by the end of March 1999 and CANARIE provides a high speed optical network across the country linking academics, research institutions and the private sector. The next challenge is to ensure that all communities have access to broadband connectivity and the National Broadband Task Force has made a number of recommendations to government about how that might be achieved. A response is expected shortly.
The Canadian knowledge industry consists of public and private institutions, companies and organizations that provide primary, secondary, post-secondary, vocational, and corporate education and training or produce educational materials, texts and software.

Please note too that a number of Canadian companies will be present, exhibiting independently and with their local partners-see the official BETT web site.
